Terms and Conditions

 The conditions below set out the Terms and Conditions between you, the Parent, and La Scuola Italiana a Londra – Sial.courses as Managing Body of the Italian Language Courses in the Consular district of London.
 
Aims
 
The aims of La Scuola Italiana a Londra – Sial.courses (the “Company”) are described on our website and marketing material. 
 
La Scuola Italiana a Londra – Sial.courses, a company limited by guarantee and a registered Charity (Charity No. 1119966), provides and manages Italian language and culture Courses in the consular district of London (South England and Wales) which are organised with the support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
 
The ordinary activity of the Company takes place with the support and supervision of the General Consulate of Italy in London and of its School Office and consists of the management of Integrated Courses and Extra-curricular Courses.
 
These Terms and Conditions only apply to the Extra-curricular Courses (“the Courses”).
 
Definitions
 
The Parent/s means those who have parental responsibility for the Student and his/her enrolment to the Courses, including any legal Guardians. Parents are expected to give their support and encouragement to the aims of the Courses, to uphold and promote the good name of ‘La Scuola Italiana A Londra – Sial.courses’, to continue the Student’s education at home and to ensure that the pupil maintains appropriate standards of punctuality, behaviour, diligence, language, discipline and dress.
The Student/s: means the child named on the Registration Form.
 
Admission
 
Students will be considered as enrolled onto the Courses when the Registration Form has been completed online and the necessary fees paid. Admission and entry will be subject to the availability of a Course and the Student satisfying the admission requirements at the time.
 
The minimum age for students is 5 and the maximum age is 18.
 
By applying for admission to the Courses, you are confirming on behalf of the Student that the Student has the right to study in the United Kingdom and you agree that a Student’s tuition may be terminated at any point during its duration if a Student is found not to have right to remain in the UK or breaches the conditions of his/her stay.
 
Payment
 
The payment conditions described below apply to both our online and in person courses and are subject to registrations submitted until the 30th June. 
 
An annual registration fee of £15 per family is due at the time of the registration. 
 
An annual fee of 
£275 for “Primary” and “Secondary Medio” Courses
or
£330 for “Secondary Mixed”, “GCSE” and “A-Level” Courses
is payable per Student (with a 15% discount for siblings) which covers the Course for the full year. 
 
The annual fee is payable in one instalment and must be paid in full at the time of the registration.
 
This is an annual Course. By registering your child/children and paying the fee, you agree to your child attending the course for the full year.
 
No refund or compensation will be made for non-attendance or withdrawal.
 
Payment for the Courses can be made online via the Company website.
 
No part of your booking is confirmed until payment of the fee and annual registration are received in full.
Registrations received after the 30th of June will be subject to a price increase as follows:

£300 for “Primary” and “Secondary Medio” Courses
or
£350 for “Secondary Mixed”, “GCSE” and “A-Level” Courses
is payable per Student (with a 15% discount that will be offered to siblings) which covers the Course for the full year.
 
The remaining payment conditions will remain the same
 
Extra Expenses
 
The price of books and entrance/board examination fees are not included in the annual fee or contribution.
 
Registration Process
 
The Parent/s is/are required to do the following:
 
Register the Student/s on the Courses website by filling in an enrolment form where he/she can choose the Course of interest (location, type of course and level). Additional children can be enrolled in the same sign-up process.
 
Pay in full, the annual registration fee and the annual fee by credit card on the Courses website. 
 
Once the payment has been processed the Parent will receive an email with a receipt attached.
 
In case of the in person courses, the Company will make every attempt to place the Students in the course of their choice. However, if the course of choice cannot be activated, the Company will contact the Parent/s and suggest another active course nearby. The Parent/s will then be able to choose to accept or reject the proposal. If the Parent/s accepts, we will change the course accordingly. If the Parent/s declines the proposal, the full payment will be refunded.
 
Based on the number of students, some courses that are offered in person, can be divided into different classes. It may be possible to divide the course into smaller groups based on the students’ age or year level, and hold different classes on the same day. If this is the case, some students may need to attend the course at a different time than was originally advertised, as the classes will be held one after another.
 
In case of the in person courses, should the venue be unable to re-open due to Covid-19 regulations, the Course will be offered online using Zoom and Google Classroom platforms.
 
Conditions
 
The Company does not guarantee the holding of any Italian language Courses unless the following conditions are satisfied:
In case of in person courses, the availability of suitable locations for the entire school year which meet the minimum requirements of “health and safety”; 
 
The Courses must reach a minimum number of 8 students.
 
Courses Location
 
Courses are mainly held in schools in London and the South of England, they will start in September each year and end in June or early July. A full list of available locations is available on the SIAL.courses website.
 
Attendance
 
Students are expected to attend lessons regularly and on time. Students are not entitled to refunds if they are late, absent, or leave before the Course ends. Upon completion of the Course, a School report will be sent to all Students, the Company will provide the Student/s with a Certificate of Attendance upon request.
 
The Parent/s must inform the course Teacher if a Student will not be attending due to illness or holidays.
 
The Parent/s agree that a Student who is ill (e.g. fever, infection, diarrhoea, or any other type of illness that may be passed on to others, with the exception of the common cold) will be kept at home to protect the well-being of other Students.
 
The Parent/s agree should a Student become ill during the lesson, that immediate arrangements will be made to collect the Student. 
The Parent/s further agree to Teachers and/or Managing Body to seek any necessary emergency medical advice or treatment should a Student become ill or injured during the lesson.
 
Behaviour

The Company will reserve the right to suspend or terminate the booking without refund, where the Student’s acts or omissions are such that it would be unreasonable for them to continue their studies on the Courses.
 
Make-up classes
 
In the event of a class being cancelled, the Company will offer a replacement class at the end of the school year. If this is not possible, the class will be offered on a different day or online, decided by the Company. In that circumstance, anyone who is unable to attend will forfeit the class.
If it is not possible to offer a replacement class, the cost of the class will be refunded.
Classes missed due to major events such as severe weather conditions or unexpected closure of the venue will not be replaced or refunded.
 
Drop off / Pick up arrangements
 
The Parent/s is responsible for dropping off the Student in the classroom or the meeting point at the beginning of the lesson and picking up the Student promptly at the end of the lessons. 
 
The Parent/s is responsible for notifying the Company if an authorised person will be collecting the Students on the Parent’s behalf. Written permission must be received by the Teacher before we will release a Student to anyone who is not on the Registration Form. They should bring a form of ID and password with them.
 
Students under the age of 11, must have express written authorisation from the Parent to arrive or leave unaccompanied.
 
Safety
 
The Company needs to be aware of any matters and be notified in writing immediately of any Court orders, medical condition, or situations of risk in relation to a Student for whom any special safety precautions may be needed.
 
 
Liability and Insurance
 
The Company does not accept responsibility for accidental injury or loss of property. The Company undertakes to maintain those insurances which are prescribed by law. All other insurances are the responsibility of Parents including insurance of the Student’s personal property whilst attending the Course or on the way to or from the location of the Courses or on any sponsored activity away from the location of the Courses. The Company is not the agent of the Parents for any purpose related to insurance.
 
Students’ Personal Property
 
Students are responsible for the security and safe use of all personal property and Parents are responsible for ensuring that all such property is clearly marked with the owner’s name.
 
Confidentiality
 
The Company will take care to preserve the confidentiality of information concerning the Students and Parents. 
 
The Company will collect and process information relating to the Students and Parents in accordance with the privacy notice which is available on our website.
 
Third Party Rights
 
Only the Company and the Parent are parties to this contract. The Student is not a party to it. The acts and omissions of Parents are binding on the Student and vice versa as to any matter of behaviour, discipline and fees and contribution. All requests and authorities by the Parent are treated as being made on behalf of the Student and vice versa.
 
Consumer Protection
 
Care has been taken to use plain language in these terms and conditions and to explain the reasons for any of the terms that may appear one-sided. If any word, alone or in combination, infringe the Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Regulations 1999 or any other provision of law they shall be treated as severable and shall be replaced with words which give as near the original meaning as may be fair.
 
Jurisdiction
 
This contract is governed exclusively by English Law.
 
Covid-19
 
All our courses, except for the ones delivered online, will be taking place in person at our venues from the very beginning of the school year 2023-2024.
 
Online lessons will be delivered in the event of:
The government announces a new lockdown or restrictions on after-school activities
A venue or a school will cancel a class or the attendance at their setting will be temporarily restricted
A Teacher tests Positive for Covid-19
